Other than seeing Kobe Bryant and his US team mates school the shit out of the Nigerian Basketball team and our 100m women hopeful, Okagbare come in last in the finals at the Olympics, I'll say last week was a good one.

I give props to every single one of those who represents my country at the Olympics whether they end up winning a medal or not because they go out there to compete against the world's best disadvantaged by poor training facilities and a lack of commitment by the Nigerian government to sports development. The athletes have been known to finance their own training yet government officials plunder the treasury by the billions (US Dollars) as we speak. Little wonder, Ohuruogu and Abiodun represent Great Britain, Okparaebo represents Norway and a couple of others I can't remember their names now. It's a crying shame.

On to what puts a smile on my face -The Arsenal!
The club is believed to have completed the signing of Santi Cazorla from Malaga last Friday after insider sources confirmed he underwent medicals at the London Colney facilities which he passed and was subsequently introduced to his team mates. Many of us kept vigil Friday awaiting an official confirmation from the club but that didn't happen for some reason. Makes the thought of Monday bearable to have that expectation for tomorrow but it does mean I'll not use that excuse to get well and truly plastered as I would have if the announcement had come on Friday. You should be ashamed of yourselves, Arsenal FC for taking away this simple pleasure from me.

What is a blog about Arsenal these days without mention of the one who messed up the opportunity to be the second Arsenal Dutch legend after the one who was afraid to fly? The rumour that RVP is set to do a volte-face and remain at the club is picking momentum faster than Fraser-Pryce ran that women's 100m final last night (that chick set). Apparently, he's impressed enough with the club's business so far in the transfer market that he's seriously considering sitting down to talk about his future at the club. Who really gives a fuck hoot about how impressed he is? It's becoming increasingly clear to him that he over-estimated his true worth when he released that silly statement he did. If really the club is interested in discussing a future with him, I'll advice against having a £180k/week 29 year old injury prone man on our books. We should be done indulging that fellow.

Still on rumours, there was a silly one  in my estimation this morning, linking us with a move for Nigel De Jong. That by itself isn't silly but the story went on to say that he was being considered as a replacement for Alex Song. I don't believe for one second that Arsenal will seriously consider any offers for Song at this time when we are looking to strengthen the existing squad then to replace him with a goon person like that. Let's not even dignify this by discussing it further.

I'll keep this one short as it's a Sunday and there's still enough time between now and Monday morning to grab a beer(s) and work out any resulting hang-over. Will be back tomorrow and hopefully Carzola will have his squad number by then.
