After a frustrating night, spent watching the clock with nothing to show for it, I made a decision to be happy. You should too.
Tiote didn't happen! Neither did Michael Essien -he ended up at Real Madrid. Neither did Dempsey -he's a Spud now.
There really isn't much to say on a day like this. 'Tis what it is. Arsenal did not make any more additional signings to Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla. If anyone had told me at the beginning of the Summer transfer window that I wouldn't be happy with these three signings I wouldn't have believed it. But of course there was still that hope that we'll be keeping last season's Most Valuable Player (MVP) and there was no hole in the DM role.
What exactly is the problem most of us have had with the squad over all the fruitless years -lack of depth I'll say. Has that been sorted out now with three new signings while losing two of last season's better performers? Your guess is as good as mine but I guess time will surely tell.
What is certain right now is that we will have to depend on those we were so desperate to cast away during the transfer window to sit up and deliver. Arshavin and Chamakh are still Arsenal players the day after the transfer window closed. The Russian transfer window will remain open for another week or thereabouts so there's still the likelihood of Arshavin moving to Zenith but selling another player now no matter how unwanted will really be taking the piss now, wouldn't it?
That little red-faced Russian and the unassertive Moroccan may be this season's lifelines now if the former can work up the motivation to do what we all know he can do while the latter gets rid of that shell he hides under.
Liverpool away was where Arshavin made the Premiership take notice so Sunday is as good a time as any to get your groove back on, Andre! Go get them! Hit them for four again!
Chamakh had done well until living in the shadows of RVP gave him an inferiority complex so now the shadow's gone. Come on, Chamakh! You can do this!
Diaby needs to stay fit, Sagna needs to resume duty at right back, Wilshere needs to get back. Those are some of the permutations that need to work in our favour for us to stand any chance of contending this season. It's a tough sell to convince even the most optimistic that we have what it takes as it stands right now, isn't it?
Wenger assured us a few days ago that he's still looking to sign up more players before the transfer window shut last night. What happened? There were no quality players available? I can't help but admire the man's stoic stubbornness. He must believe that this squad is good enough to win something this year for him to pull something like this. His critics are on the rise and he really doesn't look like he gives two hoots. There must be something he knows that we ordinary mortals don't after all true genius is often misunderstood.
It's all good. Next up is Liverpool away on Sunday. Let's chin up, get the disappointments of this Summer's transfer window behind us and go support the boys. What else to do?
In Arsene We Trust?
Note: The only good thing that came out of yesterday was watching Chelsea get hammered by Athletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. Chelsea isn't allowed to sneer at Thursday night football henceforth. And really do they qualify to be called European Champions after getting gobsmacked by the supposedly inferior Europa Cup winners?
Chelsea is an embarrassment to d champs league trophy!

I honestly believe Wenger has run out of ideas now and has nothing more to offer as a manager. He should be moved upstairs as an administrator of some sort but please we need a new manager
ReplyDeleteWhat are you all going on about? Sagna, Wilshere, Diaby are like new signings. Add them to Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla. What more do you want from Wenger
ReplyDeleteAnother trophyless season to look forward to. Hope Wenger and the board are happy with all the profit they've made once again
ReplyDeleteCome on. Chamakh will come good now that RVP is gone. See how Torres has been freed from the juju Drogba put on him at Chelsea. i predict 30 goals from Chamakh
ReplyDeleteLets move on guys. no matter how much we cry now, no one can join the club until January. Time to support those who wear the red and white unconditionally
ReplyDeleteArshavin needs to get off his fat russian ass and play football now. no fooling around any more
ReplyDeleteIn Arsene I Trust. He'll work his magic again
